Nieuport replica PFA 121-10728 was exhibited at the 1982 PFA rally at Cranfield on 2nd - 4th July 1982. I cannot trace any further references to it, other than the listing in ABN APR.110 1982; "121 Nieuport 17 Replica. (Thought to be a fullĀ "size replica based on Redfern plans. 121-10728 underway with L.A.Saxby at Hillingdon, Middx.)" Was it ever registered or was it abandoned. Many thanks
(I tried posting this on AB-IX but Yahoo does not seem to accept my emails!)

It never gained a UK Registration. From old PFA magazines I also have:
121-10728 Rosendaal Nieuport 17C Replica Les Saxby,92 Danecroft Crescent,Hillingdon. Started mid 1981
Although initially allocated 121-10728 on 15.09.81 as above, the LAA later lists it as a REDFERN NIEUPORT 17 REPLICA (MOD). From web entries, I see that Redfern's plans were adapted from the original aircraft drawings with assistance from Peter M Bowers and Reinhold Platz, one of the original design team for the Fokker DR1. Platz continued to collaborate with Redfern until the former's death in 1966.
I suspect that this is one of many old projects that simply faded away despite good intentions

As a quick follow-up to my earlier input, I have found that Les Saxby was still around a few years ago, but had moved to Hulver, near Beccles, Suffolk - I seem to recall that he was very much involved in the Radio-Controlled Model and small engines scene.
