While Ed Coates may identify it as A17-421, he is simply wrong. A17-421 was registered VH-AZL 26.6.47 (see below) and has an extended well-documented civilian life. The rest of the history he gives for VH-BIW is correct (as far as it goes) and BIW is definitively A17-543.
