The National Audit Office, one of the current residents of the building, produced a brochure documenting the buildings history a couple of years back. I have a copy somewhere, if I can't find it I will ask if they have any left when I next visit. Phil K

When the terminal was built, an aircraft's All-Up Weight (AUW) was more important than now. The terminal design included scales concealed in the floor, so the more ample passengers could be discreetly weighed without them having to clamber on to scales, in view of their fellow travellers.
