BERNARD MARTIN (Air-Britain Membership No: 2238) Webpages at abetheaviator.wixsite.com/website ---Recently transferred/updated from my old Pipex site now that TalkTalk have pulled the plug ! email: email@example.com
The Second-hand book and magazine list is updated about every month as new donations are sorted and listed. The latest version is attached and includes some items not yet on the list published on the website. As and when a new listing is finalised, it will now be posted on the Message Board at the same time as being sent for uploading on the website. This will mean that those on the Message Board will commonly see it several days before those relying on the website or via the e-Newsletter.
Additionally, from time to time, we will announce time-limited special offers for Message Board readers and highlight items which we think may well appeal to readers and which may have been overlooked (given the ever-growing size of the list).
Don’t also forget that the Message Board is likely also to be the first place where new titles will be announced – both of Air-Britain products as well as third party new books for sale via our website.
Please be aware that a revised Second hand sales list is shortly to be uploaded to the website. Details will be posted as soon as this is done.
Please note that we have just acquired a large collection which includes many of the out of print AB books - so you might have to move fast if you want one. The collection will be listed and uploaded over an extended period - so keep an eye out. Alternatively, if there are any books you are particularly looking for, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Also, why put it in the AB-IX list anyway ? It was notified on the forum, so why not put it on there under an appropriate thread ?
The June updated list had a direct file link AB Aeromart 2018 06.docx (611.84 KB) so why not do the same with the latest one. Keeping it in the same Useful Links thread would surely be logical and avoid the ever-present problems with Yahoo Attachments.
Bernard The file IS in the ABIX Files Area. I have just checked. I am not impressed by the remainder of your message. Sorry, but I think you are being plain rude. I am just another member, who tried to help.
Not sure what could be considered rude about suggesting that we ought to be logical and make it easier for our members ! Sorry for not finding the file on the AB-IX Files list (even changing the format to Alphabetical) - perhaps I was knocked off balance by the appearance of a "W" at the beginning of the title (presumably for MS Word ?). However, I repeat my original plea: the June listing had a direct clickable link to the file by title, so why was it not given in Malcolm's latest Forum message as that would have saved many people having their usual difficulty rambling through the Yahoo AB-IX Files system. We are all being encouraged to use the Forum, so let us ALL follow these exhortations, please !
This really seems to a storm in a teacup. It seems quite logical to put the book list on the Forum and on ab-ix.
Like jackb I view ab-ix on Thunderbird as individual mails as I don't like trawling through the Yahoo site.
I don't seem to have the problems with Yahoo apart from the very odd mail coming in twice, and a few coming in delayed. I even seem to see all the attachment, and it only took about 20 secs to find Geoff's file on the Yahoo site.
What does concern me slightly is almost two thirds of members will not see this book list.
I think it's logical as well. However many of us have written something only to be told that AB-IX is for information exchange ONLY This board was created to move all other topics to it. But we see adverts and job adverts being posted to both. I agree it's logical, but while that's not what admin tell us to do, it seems to be OK for the 'heid yins' to do it.
Please note that Roger Birchall is a little unwell at the moment and thus there may be a delay in processing second-hand sales.
I also understand that there are delays in uploading the January second-hand list on to the website and apologise for this and ask that potential purchasers be a little patient. A further posting will be made when we have uploaded the new and much extended second-hand list.
A revised and updated second-hand sales list is attached and will be posted on the website in the near future. With extensive additions from recent collections - including some very collectable books both reading books and reference sources. There will undoubtedly be items that will fill gaps in your collection.
Don't forget to trawl through the vast range of magazines - including recently added early copies of Fana de l'Aviation - the French monthly which carried in depth historical articles and rare photos. This time, we have divided the list into two separate documents to make it easier to go through.
Included also are virtually all of the back issue Air-Britain magazines - as far back as 1948.. For the month of March only - we are doubling the discount for larger orders - 10% for orders over £50 and 20% for orders over £100.
The stock can generally be viewed at Tonbridge on Monday mornings - other times by arrangement with Roger Birchall.
