The Milton Keynes Aviation Society, one of Air-Britain's branches, is continuing their interesting series of meetings into 2019. The first is on Tuesday January 8th at 7.30 for 8.00.
Greg Baughen - Portal, Dowding and the Battle of France
In 1940 Dowding bitterly opposed sending any more fighters to France. He believed any more fighter support for the Allied armies fighting in France would result in certain defeat for Britain. Portal too did not believe his bombers should be used to support Allied ground forces. Instead he launched the strategic air offensive against German industry. In the decades that followed the Second World War, the former has come to be considered the decision that saved Britain and the latter the strategy that played a major contribution towards victory. In this talk Greg questions whether either policy was correct.
We meet at Kents Hill Community Centre, Frithwood Crescent, Kents Hill, Milton Keynes, MK7 6HQ. Read about us on mkas.co.uk

Being in Sweden, it is difficult to attend
Mr Baughen seems to be a rather new British 'Shooting Star' with quite a few books under his belt in a very short time.
I confess I was a bit suspicious but after reading his book about French aviation, I was quite impressed. I am now reading his book about RFC during WW 1 and that one is no disappointment either.
I also confess I like his style and easy to follow summaries of events.
Would have been interesting to both listen to him and meet him in person.
Cheers Stig

If the speaker has a Power Point set of graphics for his talk, any chance of the MKAS putting it on this forum ?(after the event , of course!)
