With Commonwealth Heads of Government Conference being held in London from 16 April the local police have informed Stansted Planewatch scheme that there will definitely be NO PUBLIC ACCESS to the North Side (old terminal area) over the weekend of 14-15 April. As yet it is unclear when access will be allowed beyond that.
The Belmer Road area "viewing area" (approximately opposite the main terminal) is the preferred spotting location. Visitors to Belmer Road are asked to park only on the right hand side of the road (when approaching from Burton End) and not to park directly on the bends at either end of the straight.
Security around the airport will be enhanced during this period and visitors to Stansted are asked to act sensibly and do nothing that may spoil local enthusiasts' relations with both the police and residents at Stansted and the locality.
As yet there has been no indication as to which Heads of Government might be using Stansted, apart from Nigeria, their Government's Gulfstream arrived yesterday
