I am delighted to confirm that the latest work by Terry Hancock "Crashes in South West England" has been uploaded to the Members Area of our website, and is located in the Aeromilitaria section

I was pleased to see this series of UK accidents continue. I have not done a comprehensive review but I found a few necessary corrections affecting C-47 and C-54. 24Nov43 42-190498 is not a C-47 serial. This certainly will refer to 42-100496 that crashed Torbay, Newfoundland, Canada on this date. 23Dec43 43-60733 is not a C-47 serial. It should be 43-30733. 8Feb44 42-92052 According to the DC-3 book the accident was indeed Rockbourne Down, Wilts 4Mar44 42-12770 is a Lockheed F-5A that crashed on this date at Welford. This most likely refers to C-47 42-100586 of the 437TCG that crashed Ramsbury on this date. 12Aug44 42-19657 is a Bell P-39Q that crashed in Panama on the 13th. This most likely refers to C-47 43-47992 of the 440TCG that crashed Marlborough on the 12th. 8Oct44 42-7249 is not a C-54. I suspect this really refers to C-54 42-72249 that crashed near St Mawgan on the 18th; this is included in the file. 2FRG was based at New Castle Army Air Force Base, Delaware.

Interesting updates Matt
Unfortunately the document is not possible to change once downloaded by me.
How do I correct and insert your data into the given pages?
Cheers Stig

Stig... I might be wrong but I think you'd have to convert the PDF back into a Word document (free online , Google Convert PDF to Word) then insert corrections and convert back online sometime via Convert Word to PDF

Does that work for open office as well?

Stig:
Rather than take the Convert pdf to Word etc route, a simpler way (assuming that you are viewing the pdf in Adobe Reader DC) is:
Open pdf Click Edit Click Copy file to Clipboard
Open (or have it ready already) a blank page in OpenOffice or whatever and Paste
Then you will have your pdf content as you want it to be able to amend/add etc at will
Hope that helps

Thanks Bernard
However I only have an Acrobat reader and clicking on "Edit" all I get is a continuation to work with Adobe Reader DC for quite a bit of money (per month)
I was hoping that someone from the Editorial Team would get the hint (or at least send a message to the original author) and update the piece. As it is now, we will have a story which is basically Air Britain's view on the topic published on our internal web page "for ever" while any/all corrections will be lost/drowned in time, since 10 years from now nobody will look for any corrections here.

Stig:
At risk of boring other readers, you are Clicking on the wrong EDIT ! Click Edit at the top left of the page (where you have File, Edit, View, Window) and you will then see the bits that I mentioned. I agree that the Edit etc to the right of the Adobe screen will take you to the pay areas !

Thanks for the follow-up. As a reminder, I only checked the C-54s and the more obvious C-47 errors. It is possible there are other problems.

The problem of out-dated or not updated applies to most websites. Here in a-b there are a number of files which have been donated/input by members which are out of date. Since they do not have a link to the editor it is impossible to send corrections - hopefully this will be addressed if we get a new discrete website!

Good points Ian
But is also means our "aces" like Matt have to take time off and check their special areas of interest. Thanks again Matt for doing that!

Can I suggest rather than individuals making changes the "master copy" document and to enable clear tracking any changes and avoid corruption with potentially erroneous data, we should start a separate thread with a clear name e.g. "Corrections to (document name) such as Crashes in South West England.
The Master Copy owner (or through a designated deputy) can then control changes and update the Master Copy document accordingly. Updates can then be notified to the thread.
