Very interesting photographs particularly the strange Tiger Moth with an enclosure over both cockpits.

Not sure why mickwest is linking to those particular views but if you go to the normal photo you can read that it's an ambulance version www.flickr.com/photos/142209609@N05/48679939447/Comparing with my Flickr pix, they seem to have the normal sharing BBCode facility switched off so can't show the pic inline as is normal e.g. Stearman Line-Up by eLaReF, on Flickr

mpf....I thought you'd like the modified Tiger Moth...wonder if it was widened like the Jackaroo
eLa ReF...most of the time those links would lead to a direct view of the photo but as noted the hot-link isn't working nor the download

Yes, as I said, they seem to have locked off sharing But you are pointing at the download pages for the pictures, not the normal page (note the /sizes/ on the end of the links) It kept the conversion for a while at least! www.edcoatescollection.com/ac1/austa2/VH-ASW.html

Many interesting photos Pity he doesn't allow any conversation. No way to make comments, since quite a few carry faulty or very superficial information. On top most of the photos have no captions at all, unless someone knows if all those intricate scrambled digits and letters actually mean something. In many cases photos come in blocks meaning you yourself have to understand that and hopefully identify the aircraft, units etc, etc. Perhaps that is the whole point, we should do our own homework! I suspect the guy behind this Flickr page is one of the main posters on WIX forum and his excellent contributions are sometimes deleted 'en masse'. I just noticed there's he has included newspaper cutting about the Australian Auster on the DUKW www.flickr.com/photos/142209609@N05/48562402367/sizes/l

It was not A17-421. That one was not an ambulance conversion and became VH-AZL

Further to the above, it would seem that 6 Tiger Moths were converted to Air Ambulances at 1 AD Laverton in early/mid 1945 and were then ferried to 13 ARD Breddan. They were A17-126/163/180/212/450/543.
So the suggestion above of A17-453 was probably simply an error for A17-543.

Yes That was my typo , I should have put A17-543. Ed Coates identiifies VH-BIW as ex A17-421 (EDIT 13Sep19 Ed Coates was wrong, VH-BIW was ex A17-543) converted at Laverton April 1945 www.edcoatescollection.com/ac1/austb/VH-BIW.html . Key staff at Jackaroo Aircraft Ltd, Thruxton were S/L J.E. Doran-Webb (director, his project from 1956) ,designer R.Prizeman and engineer J Gobert none of whom seem linked to Australia.
