I put the following query on AB-IX recently but there were no takers so trying here ...
"KLM-IIB acquired four former RCAF Canso As for operation in Indonesia. They were registered PK-CTA to PK-CTD.
PK-CTC was delivered in the Autumn of 1947 and is reported to have staged through both Prestwick and Blackbushe around the 7th/8th October.
PK-CTD also staged through Blackbushe on its delivery flight, probably in December 1947 but is also reported to have visited Poole harbour in August 1947 which, if correct, begs the question where/why was it in the UK all this time.
At least one of the others, possibly PK-CTA, staged through Shannon on 19 September 1947 before flying on to Amsterdam. It may be reasonable to assume that PK-CTB also transited the UK.
I do not have any ‘formal’ confirmation of these reports - can any member add anything from their logs or, perhaps, contemporary published sources such as movement reports."
Hope to hear.

There was a deafening silence on this query. However, Mike Phipps has directed me to Aeroplane Spotter 17Apr48 which, in its Correspondence page, has a lengthy letter about Poole Harbour movements from one BCC Ward of Parkstone. He says "During August a Consolidated Catalina PK-TCD (sic) from the Netherlands East Indies paid a visit". The identity should be PK-CTD but at least it confirms the visit although I suspect it may have been from nearer home than the NEI - see above.

Very exotic stuff, David.....if any photos were taken , Blackbushe or Prestwick would be the most likely places with their keen photographers

I believe that there is a group researching aviation at Poole, unfortunately I do not have any contact details. Surely someone on ABIX will know?

Sorry Tony - only just seen that reply - the group is the 'Poole Flying Boats Celebration' and I have been in contact with them.
