The loss date of 46 Sqn Hurricanes P2632 and P2633 which were sunk on HMS Glorious should read 8 Jun 40.

Andy Missed out on this one. I don't think the aircraft was on its way to 242 Sq. Once the decision was taken by either Jim or Air Britain (perhaps a combined decision?) that no MU etc should be included in the summaries, we end up just like this. I think everyone agrees, with hindsight, that was a mistake. Also to leave out dates was another mistake. In this case 5 MU aircraft together with 55 OTU, who were in the area, intercepted a Ju 88 which they shot down. P/O Bird was either hit by return fire or collided with the 88. B Rgds Stig

The pilot of P3271, 41543 Plt Off (Plt) Charles Alec Bird, was recorded by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission as serving with 5MU when he was killed.

I'll leave this thread as is, but it also includes corrections to the combined volume P1000 - R9999. Hurricane P3069 was lost on 13.2.41, as confirmed by the ORB.

Note also the unit is given as 2 SFTS, rather than RAFC.
This also corrects The Oxford File.
