The January ABN cover photo of the oddly decorated Stinson V-77 N69745 brought to mind a minor mystery concerning the black/white chequered pennant on the fuselage which has appeared on two other V-77s in unconvincing Royal Navy schemes, N1141 and N5490N. The motif is most likely copied from W A Wylam's detailed V-77 drawings published in Underwood's THE STINSONS of "FK724" (a Hudson serial, possibly confusion with FB724) where Wylam labels it as "Gaspe Coast Patrol".
Probably a U-Boat patrol but who operated it and from where? Perhaps Lee Howard can help.
