Milton Keynes Aviation Society presents a ZOOM lecture “The C-47 Dakota in Greek Air Force service 1947 – 2009” by Ioannis Mylonas - Thursday December 1st
Renowned Greek aviation historian and Air-Britain member Ioannis Mylonas has kindly offered to give us this talk via Zoom. The C-47 Dakota entered service with the Hellenic Air Force in 1947 and the last examples were finally retired 62 years later. During this time, they served in a wide variety of roles, took part in conflicts in Korea and the Congo, acted as royal transports and, perhaps most amazingly, a few were converted to serve as bombers! Ioannis spent 36 years working on helicopters with Greek Army Aviation, latterly combining this with a number of roles at the Greek Air Force Museum. He has carried out a great deal of research into Greek military aviation and was involved in the restoration and return to flight of the Greek Spitfire in recent years. This will be delivered by Zoom starting at 19.00GMT. Please contact Chris Bosworth (cj.bos@ntlworld.com or 07860 629494) to receive your link to join the meeting.
