I've just started reading this interesting book. On Page 27, DH.9A F1086 is said to have been lost "two days later" than a previous incident reported on 12 October 1919. The correct date should actually be 24 October 1919, as evidenced by: plus the DH4/DH9 File

'Truculent tribes' has a surprising amount of coverage of pioneering civilian flights through Middle Eastern territory

The photo of the Iraqi Audax on Page 90 actually shows serial 28, as can be seen from the Arabic numerals. 25 was a DH Moth.

On Page 109, the serial of the 84 Sqn Vincent lost (on 30 October 1937) should read K6346.

On Page 125 there is reference to a mid-air collision on 16 February 1933 involving 14 Sqn Gordons K2621 and K2623. This incident actually took place on 3 January 1933, and involved Fairey IIIF K1158 and Gordon K2636. Both aircraft landed safely, but the Fairey IIIF passenger, AC1 Charles Stocks, baled out and was killed after his parachute failed to open. Once again, my grateful thanks to the contributors on the RAF Commands Forum, including Air-Britain member Paul McMillan, for their help in confirming the details: www.rafcommands.com/forum/showthread.php?31858-Fairey-Gordon&p=187603#post187603

Something is odd here Andy
Looking in our own K-file it seems there at least was an incident between K2621 and K2636 on 16.2.1933
While Jim lists K2636 as having collided in the air with K2621 on 16 Feb near Ma'an, he says for K2621 it was hit by K2636 after landing at Ma'an. That indicates to me that two separate incidents involving K2636 took place. One on 3.1.1933 when it collided with K1158 (nothing listed about that in the K-file for K1158) and the other when it hit K2621 after landing 16.2.1933.
I doubt Jim took the date 16.2.1933 out of thin air so something must have taken place on that date even if it must have been a very minor accident.
I have no idea from where Vic got the info that K2623 was involved in the incident on 16 Feb (nothing in the K-file)
Cheers Stig

Stig, It must have been very minor as it was not mentioned in the ORB. As it wasn't, I can't see where Jim would have got his info from. Andy

True Andy
But again, I can't see Jim just taking a date out of thin air.

It could be something as simple as just reading the wrong line from rows of information. Everyone is human, and we all make mistakes. Anyway, no point arguing about it.
Moving on, the loss of 47 Sqn Gordon K2642 is recorded as being on 27 January 1936. This should read 25 January 1936, as per both the AM78 card and the F1180 (and the K-file).

On Page 188, Gladiator RT-Z of 112 Sqn is captioned as N5839. This aircraft went firect to Portugal. Although the photo is a little unclear, most sources I can find say that this was N5829.
