Hi
Is there a date when the VC10 and Beaufighter books are due for publication.
I notice in the latest Aviation World, that the article on the VC10 says you can order the book from the website !!
Kind regards
John Taylor (02803)

John, It doesn't quite say that. The advice accompanying the article is "Please check the book's availability with [the website] before placing an order."
That's because Aviation World magazine space had to be committed well before the book printer had even started to ink his rollers. Getting the printer to deliver books to the warehouse on the day that the magazine drops through letterboxes is well-nigh impossible — even before securing the services of that rare species, the lorry driver. I will leave it to others to advise when the VC10 can be dispatched to eager customers (that's way above my pay grade) but understand it will not be long. Sincerely, Paul (04536)

John,
The VC10 book is currently being laid out. It might just be available before Christmas, but you will have to keep an eye on the normal Air-Britain social media sites. The Beaufighter book is more advanced, and should be available for Christmas. But again keep checking the Air-Britain sites. All the best. Nigel

Good news. Just a thought but has Air Britain looked a pre order type offer, perhaps when nearly ready such as the Beaufighter and VC-10 books are, both of which will be on my list, so that we dont need to keep checking various websites/forums to look for its arrival? I for one would be happy to order and pay so that I know my copy will be coming as soon as possible after delivery to Air Britain. Should also give a better idea of demand? Cheers Chris

I am also going for both books, plus the Scottish Aviation one!
However Chris, if your intention is to get a special pre-order discount I am not with you on that point Many publishers use such a trick to ensure if they are going to publish or not. We have a member price and we have a non-member price. I am perfectly happy with our board having once made such a decision and there is not any need for anything extra.
However if it's just for convenience, I can see your point. But is it really necessary? Basically everything is run by volunteers and add another "thorn" to our stalwart book department seems a bit too much. No idea if this can be set up or not, but our volunteers should not suffer....more than they already do (hats off to you Guys!)
Cheers Stig

Hi Stig No not after a discount, as you say already benefitting from a members price, just wanting to get the books ordered and not have to keep checking when they are available. Also do not want to add work to the book department who as you say do a great job. Had thought it might make their life easier if they had a list of customers they could work through when the book published rather than dribs and drabs as our orders come in. Cheers Chris

As always, we will publish on here and on our Facebook pages when books are available to order. So as long as you have notifications for this Message Board, you will see the news.
We do not have pre-ordering for a number of procedural reasons, mainly, as Stig mentioned, to ease the workload on the distribution team.

Fair enough Chris
But I agree with Steve, it is not really necessary as I see it
