Eve Curie's wartime account 'Journey among Warriors' is available as an e-book from Lucknow Digital Library (India) (couple of pages missing) and also as a Controlled Digital Lending item from the Internet archive...she had previously made a trip to Europe on one of the first Pan Am services to Lisbon in 1940...here Pan Am Captain Nolan informs her that her luggage has been left behind in New York

The graph-paper movement charts BOAC used right through WWII survive, and identify the newish Lpckheed which flew Eve Curie from Kano, Nigeria 18Nov41 to Khartoum , Sudan as BOAC Lodestar G-AGBW 'Lyndhurst', service #TK168. Those sharp-eyed chaps at Airhistory.net spotted an early Kodachrome of G-AGBW in the Smithsonian Rudy Arnold collection awaiting deck-cargo shipment from Floyd Bennett field with many Hudsons and Bostons (but scanned mirror-image and filed with the Douglas Bostons !!). Possibly camouflaged on arrival in Africa? G-AGBW was lost in a fatal crash in near Nairobi 28Nov44

On Friday 21Nov41 Eve Curie proceeded from Khartoum for Cairo by Empire flying boat. The BOAC charts show 2 possible Empire boats that day, EITHER on flight # JC26 G-AETZ Circe...( photograph shows it early in WWII on the Sea of Galilee, Palestine (IWM)...Circe was lost 28Feb42 between Java and Australia ) OR on flight #NE140 G-ADUX Cassiopeia....( photograph shows it in camouflage at the Sunderland base, RAF Mountbatten, Plymouth Sound, late summer 1940,about to be protected by a barrage balloon...G-ADUX was lost in fatal crash Sabang , Dutch East Indies, 29Dec41)
