Milton Keynes Aviation Society presents a film commissioned by the International Bomber Command Centre, "Attack on the Sorpe Dam".The film features a first-hand account from the perspective of George “Johnny” Johnson, a young 21-year-old RAF 617 Squadron Bomb Aimer. It tells the story of Johnny and his aircrew from March 1943, on joining a newly formed squadron, for a top secret, special operation that has the potential to shorten the war in Europe. Johnny describes the dangerous low flying training and events leading up to the operational briefing on May 16, 1943. Johnny and his crew finally discover what they are expected to do and are presented with what seems like an impossible task. The film has been produced to raise funds to help develop the International Bomber Command Centre and is not on general release. Venue: Kents Hill Community Centre, Frithwood Crescent, Kents Hill, Milton Keynes, MK7 6HQ. Doors open at 7.30 p.m. Tuesday 12th December and the showing begins at 8.00 p.m.
Visitors are very welcome - £10.00 per head. More details on www.mkas.co.uk
