Mike Draper is trying to complete histories of the military Austers and has the following gaps - can you help?
Are there any old-timers out there who would know the code letters (if any) carried by the following Auster AOP.6: TW540, TW571 and VF641 of 661 Squadron, RAuxAF; TW579 and VF642 of 662 Squadron, RAuxAF; VF529 of 663 Squadron, RAuxAF, VF526 of 664 Squadron, RAuxAF and VF557 of 666 Squadron, RAuxAF. Finally, Auster T.7 VX926 may have carried a code whilst with 664 Squadron, RAuxAF. Any clues ?
Thank you

Mike:
The only one that I can offer is for VF641 which wore Fuselage Code K at some time. It is in an old Dave Sparrow photo, but when and where it was taken, we have no clue now !

Not disjointed at all - trying to get maximum exposure of the query. It has been posted on Facebook as well.

WOW - Great if everyone did that ! WE have a section on this board to talk about scanners - it was all carried out on ab icks. Some stuff gets moved some doesn't? Oh for one proper site. I look forward to similar requests for the remaining 3000+ Austers! ian callier

Hello Ian. Good to hear from you. Just to set the record straight. I am not trying to complete histories of Austers per se but simply working on "Army Air Corps Aircraft & Units". What I am studying is a list of aircraft (mainly Austers) offered to the AAC at 1.9.57 and which aircraft were selected for service or reserve. What the list doesn't include, as you can imagine, are the individual code letters and I just wanted to add these for completion sake.
Army Air Corps matters tend to fall below the media threshold for national coverage and so I avoided ABIX and thought that this would be a better forum for discussing such matters and, anyway, I don't understand Facebook. I am grateful for Bernard Martin's input and also reminding what a good photographer Dave Sparrow was - or perhaps hopefully still is. Michael (4178)
