Micky
On the second photo the hangar behind the DC-6 does look like the Hunting (?) hangar that was in the middle of the airfield.

Steve...The pre-war hangar which lingered in the middle near the eventual Central Area was the Fairey hangar... the eventual Hunting hangar was the 3-bay alloy hangar built for BOAC Comets around 1951 on the Southside to the west of the Pan Am hangar. The Pan Am hangar is a possible candidate for the hangar behind the nose of PI-C292 in the 1950? postcard . The general lay of the land does look like Heathrow , I just can't quite get my bearings. The second photo could be taken from the west end at LAP North, with the hangars in the background to the right being the B1 hangars in the 'middle' used by BOAC (and later Eagle) before the main BOAC base was built. Could they be Yorks parked outside the hangars (BOAC or Skyways)?
Not sure about the first LAP photo. It certainly looks like the old PanAm hangar before the 3-bay alloy hangar was built, but what is the flat roof building on the left hand side?

9T-TLA was a DC-6 of the Force Aerienne Zairoise. OH-KDA was a swing-tail freighter conversion of a DC-6B Attachments:
