A few weeks ago I found some black and white Instamatic negatives dating back to 1970. I do not have a slide scanner (never having used slide film) and being anxious to digitize these old photographs I resorted to desperate measures.
The negatives were carefully attached to window with small strips of masking tape and I made a rough and ready rig to hold my Huawei mobile phone in a vertical position. I was surprised that the phone enabled me to focus to within about one inch of each negative and I let the phone's software calculate the exposure etc.
The negative photographs were transferred from my phone to my computer and converted to positives using Photoshop.
Remembering that the originals were taken on a cheap Kodak Instamatic camera, I think the results were amazing and an example is attached (sorry it isn't aviation related).
Hope this may help someone
Regards
David
